Sentence: A sentence is a group of words that gives a complete meaning

Arun sings well
Jasmi Wrote a poem
He studied Well
She went to Thiruvananthapuram
They came Yesterday

Parts of a sentence

Every sentence has two parts-Subject and Predicate
Subject: The part which names the thing or person is called the subject of the sentence.

Predicate: The part which tells something about the subject is called the predicate of the sentence.

Examples:

1. He sings a song sweetly
“He” is the subject. "sings a song sweetly” is the predicate
2. Lisa wrote a letter.
“Lisa” is the subject and “wrote a letter” is the predicate
3. They are playing
“They” is the subject. “are playing” is the predicate

Kinds of sentences

Sentences are mainly divided into four kinds.

1.Assertive sentence: (It includes Affirmative and negative)
2.Imperative sentence (Request,command and advice)
      3.  Interrogative sentence (Questions are two kinds-Question word question and “Yes” or “No” question)
      4.  Exclamatory sentence: (Amazing or wonderful statements)

Assertive: A sentence that makes a statement is called assertive sentence or a statement.
Ex: Shahna visits here every Sunday (Affirmative)
Shahna do not visits here every Sunday (Negative)
  
Imperative: A sentence that expresses command, Request, advice is called an imperative sentence)

Ex: Come here!
Please come here!
You must take rest!

Interrogative: A sentence that asks a question is called an interrogative sentence.

Ex: What are you doing? (Question word question)
What is she writing? (Question word question)
May I come in? (Yes or No Question)
Dou you know that?( Yes or No Question)

Exclamatory: A sentence that expresses a strong feeling like sorrow or joy or showing excitement is called an exclamatory sentence.

What a beautiful flower!
Ah! I have a lot of work
What a pity!
What a wonderful work!
